The Major League season is wrapping up, with the Cubs clinching a second consecutive National League Central title against their bitter rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals. But even as we turn our focus over to the Postseason, we still have some time to take a look back at the season the minor league teams had in 2017. We have already covered the ups and downs of the Iowa Cubs and interesting season for the Tennessee Smokies, so today we keep moving down the ladder as we look at the High-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Tennessee Smokies Season in Review

There wasn’t much team success to be found around the upper levels of the minors for the Cubs from a team perspective. Much like the Iowa Cubs, the Tennessee Smokies finished in 4th place in the Southern League North division with an overall record of 68-70.

But also like Iowa, the Smokies had several players that picked up for the lack of team success with plenty of individual success. The roster was full of talent and had several top prospects that showed out and a few that underperformed. Continue reading

Iowa Cubs Season in Review

You hear it said about Minor League Baseball all the time. The minors are a place to develop players into Major League products. While this season wasn’t as much of a success as you would like to see from a team standpoint with a record of 67-72 and a fourth place finish in the PCL American North Division, the team still showed success in other aspects of the game.

With Jen-Ho Tseng making his MLB debut today with his start on the bump, he marks the 8th Iowa Cubs player to make his debut with the big boys this season. Not only that, but Tseng will also be the 20th player overall to play for both the I-Cubs and in Chicago in 2017.
