Another day, another set of wins for Cubs baseball. From top to bottom, all levels in the system found themselves finishing off their days with an addition to the number in the W column. Not only were there wins, but there were also some top tier performances for a few players throughout the system on Monday. Continue reading
Yesterday was a crazy day all across the board for the Cubs system, headlined by a game named Addison Russell. Here is how each team performed on Monday. Continue reading
Today is the day. Opening Day for the 2016 Chicago Cubs. I, like many others, am excited to be writing what could be the first post of a year that ends all of the pain and suffering for Cubs fans and players alike on their journey to the World Series.
While there is plenty of time to get sentimental throughout the year about Chicago Cubs baseball, the first game is tonight and we have important things to get to such as Lineup Notes: Opening Day edition! Continue reading
There were quite a few roster moves made Sunday, which isn’t all that surprising with Opening Day today. (Wait Opening Day is today? I hadn’t heard.)
Munenori Kawasaki has had a crazy last few days. After being released and then re-signed to a brand new Minor League contract all in the same day, the middle infielder was added to the 40-man roster yesterday and optioned down to AAA Iowa. It wasn’t covered much when he was picked up, but Kawasaki had one more option year left which can be utilized this season. That can be very helpful when it comes to moving him up and down between Chicago and Iowa due to injuries or other reasons.
Four players were added to the DL yesterday, all of them being of the 15-day variety. Javier Baez will probably start to get some action rehabbing fairly soon as he comes back from his thumb injury.
Christian Villanueva is on the 15-day DL but will definitely be out much longer as he returns from his fractured leg that he suffered early on in the spring.
Dallas Beeler will miss some time due to an arm problem. There isn’t a whole lot of information yet on the injury so the timetable is up in the air, although he did miss the whole spring so that can’t be a good sign.
Newly acquired Aaron Brooks is the last of the quartet to hit the DL, and he is listed as having a hip bruise. Doesn’t sound too serious obviously but people have been out longer for less so we will see. All are retroactive to March 25.
